A bit about how I got here… I am Saz Reed, a marine scientist who loves adventuring and hanging out with my pals and family in all my spare time. For the past 10 years, I have worked as a Marine Scientist and professional skipper/diver worldwide on research and consultancy projects. I went to Plymouth University, and from there I worked in Antarctica for 2 years as the Marine Assistant at Rothera, when that short-term contract ended I moved to Scotland where I was a marine research technician, skipper and ships ops manager at the Scottish Association for Marine Science before working in marine consultancy and the corporate world. I am putting these skills to the test by being freelance through my company, working as a Marine Consents Manager, and consenting wind farms. When I am not at work I try to get the most out of my lunch breaks, evenings and annual leave to get fit and adventure. My favourite new pastime is going remote bike-packing, with our latest trip being to Kyrgyzstan. I have many different pastimes including gliding, ice and trad climbing, splitboarding and lately adding Freediving to my hobbies! There is a hobby to do every day in Scotland depending on what weather conditions we get – Scotland is the place that has it all.
